Description

Although never completed, Beaumaris Castle is often hailed as the most technically perfect example of concentric castle design in Britain. Commissioned by Edward I in 1295, its symmetrical layout of inner and outer walls, towers, and a moat represents the pinnacle of medieval military engineering.

Visitors can walk the walls, explore towers, and enjoy interpretive panels explaining the castle’s history and design. The grounds host family events, concerts, and medieval fairs in summer. Despite being unfinished, Beaumaris exudes grandeur and symmetry that fascinates historians and casual visitors alike.

Facilities include a gift shop, information centre, and picnic areas. Guided tours are available, and the site is managed by Cadw, with a strong emphasis on educational resources.
