Description
Located on the historic site of Woodley Airfield near Reading, the Museum of Berkshire Aviation preserves the county’s rich aviation legacy. Once home to Miles and Handley Page aircraft production, the museum showcases reconstructed aircraft, rare archives and pictorial records that chart Berkshire’s contribution to British aerospace innovation.
Facilities include free on-site parking, accessible toilets and ramps, a museum shop, light refreshments, and wheelchair loans. The museum is child-friendly and offers an active educational programme for schools, with group visits available outside regular hours. Restoration work is often visible on Wednesdays, allowing visitors to engage with volunteers and learn about aircraft conservation firsthand.
Check opening times, as they are restricted.
Special exhibits include the Handley Page Dart Herald (flown by Prince Philip), Fairey Gannet, Fairey Jet Gyrodyne, Miles Magister, Miles Student, Westland Scout helicopter, and a wind tunnel model of the Miles M.52—Britain’s unrealised supersonic jet project. A mini Link Trainer offers hands-on fun for younger visitors.
