Description

Built by Edward I between 1283 and 1289 as part of his campaign to dominate Wales, Conwy Castle is one of the finest surviving examples of medieval military architecture in Europe. Rising above the River Conwy, its eight massive towers and curtain walls form a UNESCO World Heritage Site, together with the town’s remarkably complete medieval walls.

Visitors can climb the battlements for sweeping views across the estuary and the mountains of Snowdonia. Inside, you’ll find the Great Hall, royal chambers, and the chapel, giving insight into both royal luxury and military functionality. Interpretive displays help visitors imagine daily life in a medieval stronghold.

Facilities include guided tours, a visitor centre, a gift shop, and family activity trails. Conwy regularly hosts re-enactments, living history events, and seasonal activities for families.

Accessibility is limited in places due to the medieval structure, but staff provide support and resources.
