Description
Airborne Assault at IWM Duxford tells the story of Britain’s elite airborne troops from 1940 to the present day. Housed in the AirSpace hangar, immersive displays combine original uniforms, weapons and multimedia to recreate key operations such as the Bruneval Raid, Normandy and Arnhem. The museum traces the evolution of training, tactics and kit through hands-on exhibits and personal testimony.
Facilities include free on-site parking, a café and shop shared with IWM Duxford, accessible ramps and toilets, wheelchair and mobility-scooter loan, induction-loop systems, seating throughout and volunteer-led guided tours.
Special exhibits feature a golden AK-47 captured in Iraq, one of the original Bruneval Raid briefing models, sections of Horsa gliders, an airborne jeep and trailer, plus a display of modern honours and awards up to operations in Afghanistan.
