Description

Tyneham Village, Dorset’s wartime “ghost” village, was evacuated in December 1943 for military training and remains frozen in time within the MoD’s Lulworth Ranges. Visitors wander through The Row’s abandoned stone cottages, step inside the restored St Mary’s Church and the original 1856 schoolroom—each housing exhibitions on village life—and explore the History Barn’s vintage farm machinery.

An outdoor WWII memorabilia wall set into the village walls recalls its role in D-Day preparations.

Facilities are simple: a donation-based car park (£4 suggested) with picnic tables, public toilets (including disabled access), occasional summer catering vans, and local cafés and pubs in nearby Church Knowle and Kimmeridge.
