Description

Tangmere Military Aviation Museum occupies part of the former RAF Tangmere fighter station in Chichester, West Sussex. Spanning from WWI biplanes to Cold War jets, it presents outdoor displays of landmark aircraft—including a Lockheed T-33, Gloster Meteor F.8, de Havilland Vampire T.11, Sea Vixen FAW.2, McDonnell Phantom FGR.2, BAe Sea Harrier and Westland Wessex—alongside indoor galleries featuring a replica Spitfire, Hawker Hurricane crash artefacts and immersive simulators. Guided cockpit walkthroughs, combat and Lightning flight simulators, and a reconstructed air-raid shelter section bring history vividly to life

Facilities include free on-site parking, a Museum Gift Shop, the Peter Wright Memorial Library housing over 4,000 aviation volumes, the Cockpit Café overlooking the airfield, accessible ramps and toilets, picnic areas and a Memorial Garden. Volunteer-led guided tours and a children’s ‘combat’ simulator add to the museum’s hands-on appeal
