Description
Nothe Fort, Weymouth’s multi-award winning historic sea fort, stands at the entrance to Weymouth Harbour, overlooking the Jurassic Coast. Completed in 1872 and decommissioned in 1956, it offers a fascinating journey through military history.
Visitors can explore a maze of underground tunnels, including the eerie Ghost Tunnel; visit the Victorian Gun Deck; climb aboard a WW2 coastal gun on the ramparts; and descend into the secret underground Nuclear Bunker.
The parade ground and interpretation galleries highlight the fort’s evolving defensive role across two world wars, while sweeping 360° views reward every ascent.
Facilities include an on-site café, gift shop, volunteer-guided tours, free parking, accessible lift and toilets, picnic areas, and a free annual pass with each ticket purchase.
