Description

The Keep Military Museum occupies the original 19th-century Dorset Regiment Depot and Barracks in Dorchester, guiding visitors through 300 years of military history over four floors. It features original uniforms and weapons, an extensive medal collection, Adolf Hitler’s desk recovered from the Berlin Chancellery in 1945, and realistic battle dioramas that bring campaigns to life.

The rooftop terrace offers panoramic views across Dorchester and the Dorset countryside.

Facilities include a small visitor car park, accessible lifts and ramps, induction-loop assistance, a museum shop, rooftop seating, and only Assistance Dogs are permitted on site.

Special exhibits showcase original Horsa glider sections, an interactive rifle gallery, realistic battle environments, and rotating displays covering campaigns from the Napoleonic Wars to modern operations.

As of mid 2025, the Keep was closed for essential repair works. Visitors should contact the Keep to check opening.
