Description
The Helicopter Museum in Weston-super-Mare houses the world’s largest dedicated rotorcraft collection with over 100 helicopters and autogyros from around the globe.
Highlights include two of the Queen’s Royal Flight machines, the world-speed-record-holding G-LYNX, a Vietnam-veteran UH-1 Huey and a Soviet Mil Mi-24 Hind gunship.
The museum also features the restored WWII Pilots’ Block and the Weston Aviation Exhibition, tracing local airfield history from the 1930s onward.
Facilities include free on-site parking, an all-weather undercover hangar, a café and gift shop, a children’s play area, and full wheelchair and mobility-scooter access with induction-loop assistance. Regular Open Cockpit Days and air-experience flight bookings add hands-on appeal for all ages
A visit to the Helicopter Museum could be combined with a trip to nearby Aerospace Bristol.
