Description
The Bournemouth Aviation Museum is a volunteer-run, hands-on museum adjacent to Bournemouth Airport, featuring a diverse collection of over 40 aircraft that visitors can explore up close—including the English Electric Lightning, Avro Vulcan, English Electric Canberra, Hawker Hunter and Westland Wessex Helicopter.
The museum’s flight simulator replicates a Cessna 172 cockpit, complete with volunteer instructors guiding guests through takeoff and landing.
Facilities include free parking (registration on arrival), outdoor picnic areas and seating, a gift shop offering toys, books, scale models and aircraft instruments, and the Spitfire Café serving tea, coffee, cakes, ice cream and cold drinks from 11 am on weekends and school holidays. Open daily year-round (last admission one hour before closing), admission is £10 for adults, £5 for children aged 3–16, and free for under 3s; annual memberships allow unlimited visits.
