Description

Bentwaters Cold War Museum, located at Building 134 on the former RAF Bentwaters airbase near Woodbridge, Suffolk, offers a rare glimpse into Cold War military operations. Housed in a restored USAF hardened command post, it features the original War Operations Room, Battle Cabin, BT telephone exchange, decontamination showers and airlock. Exhibition rooms explore RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge history from WWII to 1993, with displays on the 81st Fighter Wing, Aggressor Squadron, Special Operations/Rescue Squadrons, and Cold War technology.

Facilities include free on-site parking, a retro American-style diner (for ticket holders), museum shop, original toilets, and partial disabled access (some rooms viewable from doorways). Dogs are welcome in the compound (guide dogs permitted inside). Open on select Sundays and Bank Holidays from April to October.
