Holbeach Royal Observer Corps Bunker

The Holbeach Royal Observer Corps underground monitoring post, situated off Washway Road in Lincolnshire, was built in 1963 to detect nuclear blasts and fallout, and closed in 1991.

Preserved by Heritage Lincolnshire, the post is in excellent condition with much remaining. It comprises two cramped chambers linked by a 14-ft ladder: a control room stocked with original radiation‐detection instruments and communications kit, and a combined sleeping and storage bay. Public access is via guided tours during Heritage Open Days in September or by pre-booked group visits.

Special exhibits recreate a functioning Cold War post, showcasing authentic warning and monitoring equipment alongside personal kit.
