Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum

Features
Description
Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum sits in the former RAF Dumfries control tower at Heathhall Industrial Estate, Dumfries DG1 3PH. Run by volunteers, it preserves the region’s aviation heritage through indoor and outdoor displays of aircraft, engines and memorabilia. Facilities include a small café and gift shop, free on-site parking, accessible ramps and toilets, baby-change, induction-loop assistance and seating areas. Guided tours and cockpit walkthroughs are available on request.
Special exhibits highlight a Battle-of-Britain-veteran Loch Doon Spitfire Mk II (P7540) recovered from Loch Doon, Scotland’s only supersonic English Electric Lightning F.53, the wartime assault-glider collection (Horsa and CG-4A Waco), plus dedicated Home Front, RAF Dumfries and Bomber War galleries, and Scotland’s only Airborne Forces display.
