Description

The Western Approaches Liverpool War Museum sits beneath Exchange Flags in central Liverpool. This restored WWII command bunker once co-ordinated the Battle of the Atlantic. Today, visitors explore 20+ original rooms, including the Operations Room, WATU (war-gaming) suite, Cypher Room, NAAFI canteen and the 1940s Street Scene, each furnished with authentic maps, teleprinters, switchboards and personal effects.

Facilities include full step-free access to the exhibition route, induction-loop and audio-guide assistance, cloakroom, museum shop, hot-drink and biscuit service at wartime prices, plus free returns for 12 months with each ticket.

Special exhibits feature the original Gaumont Kalee Dragon projector once used by Winston Churchill, the “Arctic Convoys” gallery, a permanent WRNS tribute display, and (coming 2026) the U-534 U-boat collection.
